3 Natural Ways to Lower High Blood Pressure | Chiropractor in West Omaha, NE

Hey there, Dr. Jeremiah Samples with Family First Chiropractic and I’m here today to talk to you about natural ways to lower high blood pressure. Now understand that high blood pressure puts you at serious risk for conditions such as heart disease and stroke, which are the leading causes of death here in the United States. According to the CDC, over 690,000 people passed away with these conditions being a primary factor. When we talk about high blood pressure, what we’re looking at is called hypertension, which nearly half the adults in the US suffer from, and this is the pressure that is put on your arterial walls from the blood. The first thing you should be concerned with if you are suffering from high blood pressure, or if this has been a problem with your family, is movement.

3 Tips to Help Manage Your Blood Pressure

The body works with the fluids in it like a hydraulic system. So if you aren’t moving enough, you aren’t sweating enough, you’re not moving the fluids through efficiently, which makes those systems work less effectively. Now, unfortunately, here in the United States, we move so little that we have billboards and commercials, reminding us to move for 60 minutes a day, which is kind of odd, right? Second thing you need to look at is how are you fueling the body? What is in your diet? What kind of nutrition are you taking in? Is it good for you? Or is it more of a toxin that your body has to fight against and eliminate? Now, unfortunately, we have a lot of overly processed foods available to us and for very cheap. The consumption of these is one of the reasons why we have such a problem with hypertension. Something I like telling my patients is if you look at a bottle, or a food packaging label, and you see words on there that you don’t understand and ingredients that don’t make sense it’s probably hard on your system. If it’s not something that you could grow in your garden or get from the farmers market, that’s probably a bad sign. Additionally we are over caffeinated. Now, third tip, as a chiropractor, is getting your spine checked. Chiropractic adjustments have been shown to not just lower cortisol levels in the body, which reduces the stress on the entire system, but also aids directly in eliminating some of the factors that cause high blood pressure problems in the upper cervical spine. It’s been shown to not only lower high blood pressure, but also lower the cortisol levels in the body, which reduces the stress on the entire system.
