“People can see the premature wear and tear on their car’s tires that occurs if the wheels are misaligned, yet the same holds true for the human body if the spine is misaligned.” -Robert Blaich, D.C.
How do you know if something is wrong with your car? You hear a funny noise, see that the car tires are wearing unevenly, feel a funny vibration or clunk while you’re driving, or maybe even see smoke pouring out from under the hood of the car! All these are signs that something is wrong and needs immediate attention, right?
If it’s so easy for us to identify warning signs of a problem with our car, then why does it take us so long to respond to the warning signs that our bodies give off when there is an issue with our health? How often have you “just ignored” a sniffle that hangs around for weeks, that headache that never seems to go away, a hip or knee that aches at the end of every day, or a digestive system that works much faster (or slower) than you would prefer? ALL these signs, and many more, are the body’s way of letting you know that something isn’t right and needs immediate attention!
If your car makes a funny noise every day when you start it up, do you just turn up the radio and hope you can cover up the noise? Probably not! Your response is almost certainly to consult someone who knows how the car should work, and who has the knowledge to identify and correct the cause of the funny noise. The same principle should be true when your body is giving off warning signs. Don’t just take a pill to cover up the sniffle or headache, and hope that it will go away. Consult someone who knows how the body should work, and who has the knowledge to identify and correct the cause of the body signal.
This is why it’s so important to have a chiropractor on your team… chiropractors are trained to identify the cause of the problem, and help you correct it. That means that you don’t have to “turn up the radio” and hope that any body signals you are experiencing will just go away on their own. By having your spine checked regularly for misalignments, and getting those misalignments corrected, you will ensure that your “Cadillac” will remain in great working order for many years to come!
