How to Sleep With Low Back Pain

By September 8, 2026No Comments2 min read

Hi, I’m Dr. Joel Marley with Family First Chiropractic. If you’re struggling with low back pain and your quality of sleep is not what you want—if you can’t stay asleep or you’re having trouble falling asleep—this video is for you.

Try Motion Before Bed

Before bed, sit on the side of your bed and try spinal rotations. With your arms up and leading with your head, turn all the way to your right, then turn all the way to your left, gently—not forcefully. Do this 25 times on each side.

See if that helps the quality of your sleep.

Evaluate the Quality of Your Mattress

If your mattress is old and worn out, that could be affecting your quality of sleep and aggravating low back pain. Maybe you have the wrong mattress.

Here’s how to possibly determine that: Double up your sheets. Two sets of fitted sheets on your mattress will create a firmer bed situation, and that’ll help you determine if your bed is just too soft for you or if you have a worn-out mattress.

Try Chiropractic

How about trying chiropractic? Having your spine properly maintained and properly aligned can help you get the restful, quality sleep that you need to heal, repair, and age gracefully.

Family First Chiropractic

It’s different here. That is something we hear often at Family First Chiropractic, and we take pride in the fact that we are different from many chiropractic offices you may have been in. That certainly doesn’t mean we are the right fit for everyone, but here at Family First Chiropractic, we make an effort to help you know if we are the right fit for you.
