Scoliosis Warning Signs | Chiropractor for Scoliosis in West Omaha, NE
How’s it going, everyone? Dr. Shane here with Family First Chiropractic. Today, I’m going to talk about scoliosis, a condition affecting between six and nine million Americans, according to the National Scoliosis Institute. The primary age of onset for scoliosis is between 10 to 15 years old. With that in mind, I want to share three warning signs of scoliosis that you should be aware of:
Posture Imbalances
The first warning sign of scoliosis is posture imbalances. You might notice one shoulder sitting higher than the other or one hip that is elevated compared to the other. Additionally, look for any imbalances in the rib cage, where one side may appear more prominent, or an imbalance in the shoulder blades, with one shoulder blade more prominent than the other.
Family History
The second warning sign is family history. Nearly 30% of individuals with scoliosis have a relative who has also suffered from the condition. This genetic link highlights the importance of monitoring children’s spinal health from an early age.
Early and Frequent Chiropractic Checks
Given these factors, it’s crucial to get your children’s spines checked early and often by a chiropractor. Prevention is always preferable to correction, especially when it comes to spinal health.
