Is There More to Being Healthy?
Active and nutrition-minded, Ann didn’t really think there was more she could be doing to improve her total health. But hearing from her peers that chiropractic care was a missing piece, she decided to see what it could provide. And she’s glad she did!
Ann’s Story
“I am a 51-year-old mother of 2 children. I spent the first part of my life being an elementary school teacher. I first met Dr. Joel and Melissa at the gym, UBX Omaha, where I work as a personal trainer. Three of the trainers I work closely with kept raving about their adjustments with Dr. Joel. I had never been to a chiropractor before, but I took a chance and decided to have a screening.
When I was 16 years old, it was discovered at a high school sports physical that I had scoliosis. I ended up wearing a Milwaukee brace for 3 years until my growth plates had hardened. About 5 years ago, I changed careers, becoming a personal trainer interested in helping people use food and exercise to improve their quality of life. Total health to me means so much more than scale weight. I had no idea what Dr. Joel could improve in my life, because after all, I was a personal trainer and knew what to do. However, I wanted to see if it could add to what I was already doing.
Over the last few years, I’ve struggled with some piriformis pain in my glutes, and most recently, adductor pain in my left glute when performing exercises like squats. I had seen various physical therapists in the past, which helped somewhat, but still the pain was reoccurring. I began weekly adjustments with Dr. Joel and within a month, my adductor pain was gone! I was amazed. It has never returned. I literally wasn’t doing anything different other than beginning chiropractic care.
I have been with Family First Chiropractic for a little over a year now. I couldn’t be more convinced that chiropractic care was another piece in my whole health journey that I was missing and desperately needed. In addition to no more pain in my adductor, I’ve noticed an increase in my lung capacity. All the doctors at Family First have encouraged me to focus on good posture and habits to encourage that. I struggle with high anxiety and when it spikes, it usually lands in my gut. My adjustments have improved my gut and digestion. My adjustments have given me better lung capacity in the gym.
I look forward to my adjustments on Mondays. I love starting the week to set myself up for healing all week long. I walk out feeling energized. Everyone at Family First is kind and caring. I appreciate the conversations I have with Dr. Joel about nutrition because he “gets” it. I love being able to work out pain free. My quality of life has definitely improved with chiropractic care, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
