4 Tips to Manage Everyday Anxiety | Chiropractor for Stress Relief in West Omaha, NE

How’s it going, everyone? Dr. Shane here from Family First Chiropractic, and today I want to address a critical issue in today’s society: anxiety and depression. According to a 2023 U.S. Census Bureau survey, nearly one-third of adults experience symptoms of anxiety and depression, with nearly half of those affected falling between the ages of 18 and 24 years old. With that in mind, I’d like to share four tips to help manage your anxiety and depression symptoms.

Tip #1: Talk About It

There’s no issue too big or too small to discuss. Whether it’s with family, friends, or a professional, remember that no battle is worth fighting alone. Opening up about your feelings can be a powerful step towards healing.

Tip #2: Focus on Breathing

Proper breathing techniques can significantly impact your mental health. I recommend the 4-7-8 breathing technique:

Inhale through your nose for four seconds.
Hold that breath for seven seconds.
Exhale through your mouth for eight seconds. This method helps regulate your body’s response to stress and anxiety.

Tip #3: Exercise

Movement is crucial for both physical and mental health. Our bodies are designed to move, and staying active can greatly improve your mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Even something as simple as a daily walk can make a difference.

Tip #4: Seek Chiropractic Care

Optimal body function requires a nervous system free of interference. Regular chiropractic check-ups can ensure that your spine is aligned and your nervous system is functioning properly, which is essential for overall well-being.
